Simple Croutons Recipe

Golden and crispy with a touch of sea salt, our simple croutons recipe is perfect served with a warming bowl of soup or a fresh green salad, ideal to add a bit of crunch and substance to a light meal. These are simply baked in the oven for ten minutes after being tossed in Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil and sea salt, but you could change the seasoning to suit your meal easily. We like using sourdough bread for our croutons as it creates a deliciously crunchy crouton with a delicious flavour, but you can use any bread you have and it is best if the bread is slightly stale to make cutting easier.

This recipe uses Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil which is low in saturated fat and high in Omega 3, making this recipe ideal for a healthy and balanced diet. Simply click here to find your nearest stockist.

Ingredients

4 slices of bread, we like using sourdough
3-4 tablespoons of Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil
Pinch of sea salt

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Cut your bread into cubes, about 2-3cm in size.
In a large bowl, toss your bread cubes with Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil and salt.
Spread out on a baking tray and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and crunchy, you can turn the croutons over halfway through the cooking time if they look like they are getting too much colour.

Enjoy with your favourite soups and salads. These croutons will last for 1-2 weeks if stored in an airtight container.
